LOCATION
Fondi is in the centre of a very historic region of Italy. It lies 16km from Gaeta and Formia to the south and the same distance from Terracina and San Felice Circeo to the north.
It is 12km from the Lido di Fondi on the sea and the same to Sperlonga, which is a lovely historic seaside town
.

THE REGION OF LAZIO
Much of Lazio’s landscape was formed by the eruption of four volcanos which showered the area with lava. Lakes formed in the craters, and the soil, rendered fertile by the lava, nourished vines, olives, fruit and nut trees. The volcanic activity also left Lazio with hot springs, notably around Tivoli and Fiuggi.
Rome dominates the area, dividing the wooded hills of the north from the reclaimed Pontine marshes in the south. Swimming and sailing are possible in lakes Bracciano, Bolsena and Albano, while Lazio’s best beaches lie between Gaeta and Sabaudia in the Parco Nazionale del Circeo.

ANCIENT AND MODERN HISTORY
Forty kilometres to the south east of Fondi is Monte Cassino and 50 kilometres
to the north west is Anzio and Nettuno both of which are very famous for
the battles fought there in the closing stages of World War 2 which led
to the liberation of Italy.
Rome - Fondi - (by road)
Driving to Fondi from Rome Airport (Fiumicino), take the No. 148 (Pontinia)
south towards Naples. Once past the town of Terracina, take the ss.7 (via
Appia) for another 18km and you will arrive in Fondi.
Naples - Fondi - (by road)
Driving to Fondi from Naples, take the ss.7 (via Appia) to the town of
Formia. Once past Formia, continue on the ss.7 for another 18 km and you
will arrive in Fondi.
Rome - Fondi - (by rail)
From Stazione Termini (Central Station) board the train from ROME-NAPLES
(via Formia). One stop after the town of Monte S. Biagio is Fondi. (Travelling
time approx. 1hr 20min, distance from Rome approx, 110km.)
Naples - Fondi - (by rail)
From Central Station board the train from NAPLES-ROME (via Formia). One
stop after the town of Formia is Fondi. (Travelling time approx. 1hr 20min,
distance from Naples approx, 110km.)
